“Helping your Community become a better place to Live, Work and Play.”

Wicklow County Council are celebrating Street Feast in conjunction with National Play Day, and we couldn’t think of a better combination! Promoting play and encouraging communities throughout the County to organise energetic and fun play activities outdoors in their neighbourhoods, they are urging all of us to rediscover our inner child.

Wicklow County Council in collaboration with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, will celebrate the annual ‘National Playday’ by hosting a ‘Playday’ event on Sunday, 11th June, in conjunction with Street Feast Celebrations. Play Day highlights the very essence of play for children and young people and encourages parents/guardians and communities to take a positive approach in developing neighbourhoods where children and young people are seen and heard.
The aim of National Play Day is to help increase public awareness of the importance of play in supporting children’s physical and social development. The idea of the day is to create an opportunity for outdoor play at street, neighbourhood and community level.

So get out your picnic basket, pack up your favourite pot-luck dish, knock on the neighbours doors and challenge them to a tug-of-war!

If you’re game for hosting a Street Feast in your neighbourhood and would like to take part in National Play Day, contact Wicklow Local Sports Partnership at and they’ll send you some play equipment for FREE.

Registrations for Street Feast events close this Friday, 9th June.

Street Feast is a day of local lunches across Ireland hosted by you and your neighbours. They can be anywhere really - out on the street, in a local park or in your front garden.

There are lots of good reasons to have a Street Feast, but it's really just a great excuse to eat great food, celebrate your local community and meet new people who live near you. For all our latest news check out Neighbourhood Network News
