The 10 best reasons why you should host a Street Feast

We’re celebrating our 10th year of Street Feast this year.. Oh what a trip it’s been! Street Feast was created as a means to strengthen communities in a simple & enjoyable way- through food & conversation. 33 neighbourhoods joined in the celebrations that year!

Now, 10 years on, the movement has grown massively (Last year saw an estimated 125,000 people take to the streets) but our ethos remains the same. We want you to take to the streets this year on May the 5th. We’ve written up a few reasons why we think YOU should host a feast.

——

1. To celebrate your area..

& show appreciation for your streets, cul-de-sacs, parks, greens.

2. To share..

Food, stories, inspiration, ideas.

3. To shine a light on..

local groups, communities & the people who hold your neighbourhood together.

4. To have fun..

Let loose, have a laugh, dance with your neighbour, give up on any inhibitions, be silly.

5. To bring new life to the streets..

& fill them with music, laughing, neighbours chatting, kids playing, the sun shining.

6. To reignite that creative spark..

by grabbing the paint brushes, the ladders & the decorations and filling your streets with colour.

7. To meet new friends..

& connect with neighbours that you’ve always wanted to say hello to.

8. To feel empowered..

by becoming active in your area and being an inspiration to those around you.

9. To reach out to those who are vulnerable..

by showing them they they are supported and matter.

10. To encourage local change..

and using Street Feast as a catalyst for community involvement & cooperation

Street Feast is a day of local lunches across Ireland hosted by you and your neighbours. They can be anywhere really - out on the street, in a local park or in your front garden.

There are lots of good reasons to have a Street Feast, but it's really just a great excuse to eat great food, celebrate your local community and meet new people who live near you.
