The need for community

“Community” – a word that perhaps has been long overused but that doesn’t diminish the importance of it’s meaning. We want Street Feast to be used as a platform for community cooperation and growth resulting in the empowerment & support of individuals

Support & Belief

Ever have those days where even an ounce of motivation can’t be grasped or listening to the news makes you want to curl up into a ball?  Of course you do! – We all get them. On those days, when you want to give up, that’s when you need to lean on the people around you the most. The simple act of a cup of tea & an open ear from a neighbour can have wondrous effects.

A sense of belonging

As humans, we crave the feeling of being accepted & loved. Belonging to a community, satisfies this craving and in turn makes us feel safe, cared for & wanted. Wether you find this in your hockey team, singing group or on your cul-de-sac, it’s something not to take or granted. Loneliness & Isolation are prevalent issues in our society and things that we all go through but can be tackled by being surrounded by a strong & engaged community.

Creating movement

Oh- there’s something so powerful about a group of individuals working together on a common goal. Inspiration spreads, confidence grows & new ideas are sparked. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it’s the only thing that ever has” – Margaret Mead.

Street Feast is a day of local lunches across Ireland hosted by you and your neighbours. They can be anywhere really - out on the street, in a local park or in your front garden.

There are lots of good reasons to have a Street Feast, but it's really just a great excuse to eat great food, celebrate your local community and meet new people who live near you. For all our latest news check out Neighbourhood Network News
