We get it- the thought of hosting a Street Feast can be overwhelming. “The invites, the decorations, the food, the entertainment. There’s too much to thinking about” Says you. Keep it small, keep it simple– Your Street Feast doesn’t need to be huge, complicated or expensive. We’ve written a wee guideline on “how to Street Feast” to prove how straight forward it can really be!
Sign up to host a feast on your street. Our friends at Change X have now made it even easier for you to register! Don’t forget to say YES to getting your free party pack.
The beauty of Street Feasts, is that they can be anywhere- on the roundabout, down the street or even just in your neighbours back garden! As long as it’s safe and can fit a table, a few chairs & some people then away you go.
People are the most important part of Street Feast. Knock around to the neighbours with invitations (you’ll receive some in your party pack), put a few posters up on lamp posts or simply get chatting to folk!
Get that idea out of your head that you need to spend tonnes of money on making the place look the part .. All it takes is a pair of scissors, a bit of paint & some colourful paper. Anything from paper chains to bunting to lanterns is sure to bring a bit of colour to the street. It could be a great way of getting kids in the area involved in the preparations too!
5) The Props
“But where will people sit?” We hear you say. Ask around. The community hall is always a good place to start! Or someone is sure to have a table they wouldn’t mind lending.. Ask people to bring something to sit their bums on. You’re Sorted!
6) The Food
Encourage folk to bring a dish to share at the table. If you don’t want a whole load of people making the same thing (..it’s usually brownies) allocate a sweet or savoury dish to each house. That way you’ll have enough food to go around as well as a pretty wonderful looking, smelling and tasting feast!
